I'm not really sure, other than to guarantee that a defense will be able to substitute.

Auburn faked plenty of people out this year by rush by rushing up to the line and then not snapping the ball immediately. Giving them time to see the defense and not allowing the subs to actually come in.

Exactly. Defenses have to get their conditioning up and coaches have to coach and manage the game better.

If youre permitted to do it in the last 2 minutes of a game, you should be permitted to do it all game.

BS rule.
