There is no way this stuff does anything real, right? It's just because athletes use them and they look cool. At least that's what I always thought.

Certain ones can help circulation, prevent shin splints, and keep you very warm during winter runs without baggy clothes slowing you down. They aren't going to make an average runner a Kenyan.
People with major circulation issues from diabetes and other health complications have seen incredible improvement from them. They are much more beneficial in this capacity.
Some people in basketball use them to cover tattoos and other sports as a way to protect skin from abrasions such as brush/grass burns.

Who gives a shite what people wear? If it gives you confidence and/or convinces you its helping, then its helping. The mind is a powerful ally. No, I don't own them nor do I run unless someone is chasing me.
