Like I said, I feel bad for you or anyone else then. I don't use these terms but its a common southern hospitality kind of thing. Babe, honey and bubba is a very, very common term thrown around in the South. Nothing sexual or demeaning about those terms. Work with rough necks like I did in college and you would go home crying by what you would hear. It must suck to live in a shell.

Why do people so frequently get on this board and tell a bunch of Southerners about what is common in the South?

My father was born and raised in Louisiana, just like his father, and his father's father, and so on. I've lived most of my life in Texas and Louisiana as well. I've never heard those terms used commonly in a work environment or between people who don't know each other extremely well.
