Not sure exactly what they like but I'll throw in a suggestion for The Meatball Shop. Basically you pick a type of meatball and the sauce that comes with it and they serve them as sliders or as just the meatball. You can do something similar for dessert with ice cream sandwiches.

It isn't what I would call a kid place, but it is good, cheap and very relaxed atmosphere. Potentially a good option for lunch one day.

Also, if you are walking around and come across a Milk Bar, I highly suggest going in and grabbing a couple of the cake truffles. They come in a variety of flavors and I have enjoyed them all. Birthday Cake, Pineapple Upside Down Cake and Capt'n Crunch Cake have been my favorites. They typically have interesting flavors of soft serve as well.

While you're there, I highly suggest getting the pork bun for yourself.
