Are you nuts? I wouldn't't do it for family(maybe not even my wife ).

Did it end badly?

Best to go for the numerous small gestures(paying for most dates, repairs home /car, etc....) that you can walk away from without being bitter. Women who truly care about you appreciate the small things.

Because of this no real regrets.
