When are people going to get their head out of their asses and quit dreaming that a great moderate is going to come riding in on a white horse and win a presidential election?
FIFY
Reagan beat the shite out of his opponents by convincing voters he was right, not by moderating.
This strategy has been sorely missed since. From GHWB on, and even going back to Ford and Nixon, 'moderates' were supposedly the ones to hand the GOP victories. We see how well that turned out... every fricking time. Even GWB was a 'moderate' with his "compassionate conservatism" bullshite. And he BARELY won against fricking Al Gore.
When someone steps up to the mic and doesn't play the game, Americans respond. That's why Christie was so popular for a while... until everybody saw that he's just another big gubment Republican.
You don't win by joining your opponents. You win by convincing them.
