Extended family employment in Asian businesses is a truly ingrained thing. As much of the net profit of the business stays in the family. It is utilized to expand the business across the board for the benefit of younger and older generations. It is also true in the business model of Middle Eastern families in the US.

The one I saw for 4k was on ebay. They have others that are in not as great of shape for less, but there are some that are affordable...even if you aren't ballin'. 
I think the thing to do would be to get a few like minded friends together and go in on it together. It's not something you'd be doing for large groups anyway, so it could get passed around week to week. You're probably only going to do it for the wife and yourself anyway.
