I call BS. The club doesn't have to be a massive 7 story club like some are over here. I'm proposing essentially replacing/relocating the shotty nightlife square footage found in the Tigerland and putting in in Northgate where it should be.
I believe there is a significant demographic of students (New Orleans, OOS) that would love to have a non gay nightclub in Northgate. Stop it with the Office and City Bar stuff. They are nicer but even further than Tigerland and are 21+.

dude every few years they try to make a "club" and it fails...quickly
i remember rasputins!
to support this club you need young professionals to wnat to go there, which is tough in BR. also you have to get girls to see it as THE place. the sorrority-infused, private school BR population isn't really that sort of population
i've watched this battle get fought many times before

There is a huge safe neighborhood of upstanding, tax paying citizens just north of this area that's really holding it back from becoming what it could be.
I get that, but I think it's sort of a cop out. It's really not as "huge" an area as most think. With the right sort of planning/investment mindset one could buy up a whole lot of that current shitty area for pretty much peanuts comparatively speaking, and create a pretty large zone of student friendly services in a pedestrian oriented atmosphere.

Someone please post an update on what happened to this guy!
Hahah. I think the last thread I brought him up you were the only one to remember him! We have probably crossed path many times at the Varsity.
I have a picture of him and I somewhere, I need to go digging. That dude was legit. He would venture over to Fred's some nights too, but he owned that Varsity stage.
Also what was the name of the bar/club that was next to Hooters on college in early 2000's?

i yearn for the day this happens...they keep pushing developments further north so it may just be slow
if you want THE area of upper-middle class expansion in BR, that should be your target. access to downdown. LSU on the other side. interstate access multiple ways

before i go do some work, let me just say that until BR lightens up a good bit, this kind of thing just isn't possible
and i'm not a BR hater. i don't mind BR, but that doesn't mean that i agree with the "Baton Rouge culture". i'd be fine living in it the vast majority of the time, but there would be that 10-15% that would drive me insane. this is one example of that 10-15%

Nola people don't want night clubs. AP/LP douchebags that go to Nola and only go to bourbon st want night clubs.

It's called the break room, has golden tee, ski ball, etc. I went by last Saturday night, seemed to be a decent crowd.

Seems a club would require a dress code of some sort. Good luck with that in BR. Unless you think crocs and camo are high fashion, you'd be hard pressed to find enough people who would dress appropriately to sustain said club. The college kids may be more apt to dress well when going out , but I doubt there's enough of them to keep a club viable.

I don't think it's as much of a cop out as some say. There is a lot of truth to it..
I wish people in BR could objectively step back and see the city as others see it. It has drastically changed over the last few decades and I think everyone knows the problem.
There's an elephant in the room BR, acknowledge it.

I can't wait to see what happens with the St. George nightlife. Downtown BR will be an afterthought.

Yeah, I was sot of wondering what are the comparable type "clubs" in NOLA?
BR just needs a collection of decent college bars (and a few for which people several years beyond college wouldn't feel out of place in, as well) that aren't taken over by cheesedicks and thugh wannabes.

The nightclubs here are insane. The bars here are bars, and they are incredible. The line between the two is fairly clear.
Izmir, Turkey, from my limited experience thus far, has to be at least on the same level as Spain. I speak two languages, English and Southern, but apparently that doesn't matter here. This place has Beltway talent (for anyone who's been to DC) with a Bratislava price tag. I just dropped 44 TL (about $20) on a bar tab last night...granted it was mostly Efes draft and Jäger shots, but still...
Haven't been on campus since Fall 2012, and Tigerland since '03, so I don't know how far it's fallen, but surely it can't be that bad....amiright?
