I got passed over for a promotion last month at work becuase I stood up to a manager in a different department who was a bully in October, despite the fact that I am the most productive member out of the 78 employees in my department and do 3 days worth of work for a normal employee in 1 day, and always do things the right way.

I had something similar. I was looked over because I stood for what was right for the client I was working. I looked for a job elsewhere and was offered (didn't really want to leave). I went to my employer and told them about what I was doing. They matched the money I wanted (10,000) so I stayed. Now I don't want the promotion. Less responsibility with the money I feel is fair.

What happened with me is that a manager in a different department accused me multiple times of turning off the lights in the bathroom(when this happens it goes pitch black)

But the way he accused me was bully-like, he would come over to my cubicle and berate me and treat me like shite, even though I wasn't the one turning off the lights

He did this 3 times and the 3rd time I told him "I didn't turn off the fricking lights. I am getting tired of your shite because its disrespectful"

This got me in the doghouse and I am still in the same position. When I learned I wasn't getting promoted I told them I am quitting if they don't because of how hard I work compare to everyone else, but they didn't bite... so my strategy backfired and I am still here. Glad your strategy ended up working out though
