This and the flood insurance in NOLA were factors I didn't include.

ETA: the assessor's office in NOLA is starting to assess a lot of homes at a higher value these days. I know that some have expressed concerns over whether living in NOLA will be affordable for the working class person in the coming years. Thoughts on that?

Depends on the area. In NOVA I think 250k for a household income makes you about average for most areas.

I figured since we were talking about someone only making $50k, they wouldn't have $30k to put down on the house. Just wanted to give a realistic showing of how one could live off $50k salary and still own a home and have a decent car etc.
