Or some other Houston area LSU alumni association?
I know there's the Houston LSU Alumni Association and it's gigantic, but I was looking to see if there are some other, more targeted alumni associations.

Member of both. Would say alumni association tends to be younger crowd. Petro tigers is much better for networking.

The group mainly consists of older alumni that have been with the group for many years. There has been a small infusion of young professionals over the years as the board has improved communication to its members. The majority of the group have a background in geology & engineering with a respectable percentage in financial services and law.
It's only $40 membership that includes four annual luncheons (two downtown & two on the north beltway). The February luncheon is the most heavily attended b/c they bring in Sam Nader to discuss the recent football signing class. The other speakers usually are representatives from the various schools at LSU (engineering, law school etc).
It's a worthwhile group and I would recommend joining but it's definitely not a big social group that rivals the alumni association.
