But all things being equal, a lot more kids are going to leave now. On the other hand, we'll benefit from this trend by getting oos kids.

Wanderlust in Louisiana's youth has always been there. Not many people stayed in state for college and most certainly after college. A large part of my high school graduating class ended up in Austin, Dallas, Tampa, etc..

So do I, he went to school in La not LSU, but I currently have 1 neice and two nephews at LSU. Now if you said they will leave after school for work I could agree. If LSU can compete for titles they will keep landing top 5 recruiting classes period. If they keep finishing where they did this year then they may well start to decline in earnest.

"wanderlust" was a much bigger thing back in the 90s when LSU sucked and teams like FSU, Miami, UGA, and Tenn came into Louisiana and took almost all of the premiere players.
Regional recruiting will generally trump national recruiting efforts. Hopefully LSU continues to do well in certain pockets (Texas, Florida, Georgia, maybe even Illinois and Ohio) of the country outside of Louisiana to compensate for what talent chooses to leave.
