What would you want his family to tell him?

I took it as he's still contemplating going out West, but his Dad knows that if negative things start happening or adversity strikes, people's immediate reaction is to "head back to safer waters"... or back home.

That's one thing about kids going to an unfamiliar environment. Adversity away from home can really frick with your mind. I've been there, most people have.

It's great advice from his Dad.

It's a tough read, but it's really good advice. He's telling his son that if he does leave the state he better love it. He'll either pick LSU because he really wants to be a tiger, or he'll pick FSU/UCLA because that's truly where he wants to be. Rueben Randle was a great player but he never acted like he truly wanted to be here, and it showed on the field every now and then. So if Chi isn't going to be 100% tiger then I ain't gonna be mad at him for going where he'll give his best effort.
