It's not always true. Especially if you live in Midtown/Montrose area and work outside of the loop.
You are against traffic both ways.
It takes about 10-12 minutes to commute from Midtown to Reliant.

This. Just moved to Houston and its the shortest commute ive ever had and the shop is outside the beltway. My commute in BR and Houma was twice as long.
