You either have been lucky or just haven't shot enough 22 rounds. I've shot tons and tons of 22 bullets. I remember my friends uncle that works for the wildlife and fisheries would bring us bricks of 22 bullets and tell us to have fun when we were kids. I've had PLENTY fail to fire. Sometimes I'd have 5-6 out of a box that didn't shoot. Sometimes more, sometimes less, sometimes none. 22 bullets are very unreliable. That's why I wouldn't trust one with my life. My m&p 9 pro shoots every time it's supposed to.

being a usually dirty round...a lot of .22lr FTF because of a dirty chamber...the rim strike is absorbed as the cartridge is pushed futher into the chamber as the strike seats the round...
check your chambers...they will develop a slight crust where the rim is supposed to seat...take a pick and clean that out, and surprisingly that FTF will usually fire.
a clean .22 should never FTF on the first few mags, making it fairly reliable if clean to start with...
