I PREFER to think that she dropped it on purpose... that she realized she had already won the most important thing she'd ever win... so what was the point of anything else except to humiliate her sister?
She only came back to please her friends. She wanted to go back to being a housewife. She even said as much.

Anyone who has ever played catcher and been trucked knows that the ball won't be dropped if it's held in your hand. The body tenses up and grips harder. She wasn't trying to break her fall either. She let go.
