There are moments in film left to interpretation that solicit very strong responses from the viewer. Did Shane live or die? Did Dottie drop the ball on purpose? Does the top wobble? People have very strong opinions on the subject, and that's great. These movies will live on forever because of it.

As I said before, I believe she dropped it on purpose. The knowingly look Jimmy gives her as she walks off the field. But I really don't think interpreting it either way affects the quality of the movie any.

We should do another tread just on these types of scenes in film.

I PREFER to think that she dropped it on purpose... that she realized she had already won the most important thing she'd ever win... so what was the point of anything else except to humiliate her sister? THAT makes for a better story, but if you think the story is better the other way GREAT for you... it's a good story either way.
