They are planning if not already building a new tennis facility and are planning a gymnastic practice facility. I was a kinesiology major at LSU and spent a lot of time in the Maddox field house, it has good bones but it needs some renovation bad.

That's good, I'm glad that they are working to solve those problems. I just hope that now that we are doing so well financially (athletics at least), the school continues to improve and maintain those facilities from here on out, and not let them fall apart like they did in the 90's.

Edit: Mudminnow, do you think that we are still at a disadvantage financially at this moment in time? Or is it that we are trying to get out of the hole that the athletics dept. was in 20 years ago. (low funding, putting of maintenance and repair)

Yes, we have a lot of money coming in, much more so than at any time, but we also have a lot of money going out.

In addition to the 7.2M athletics gives to academics they also agreed two years ago to take over many other responsibilities that previously belonged to academics.

LSU and Louisiana suffered the largest education budget cuts of any school in the country. Athletics stepped up to the plate.
