Should be offered to Cam Cameron if he wants it.

Not trying to downplay the guy but why would you want him? Has he ever been a head coach at any level? I honestly don't know the answer to this but I would never want a guy to "cut his teeth" on a program of LSU's magnitude. That's just my .02.

Only if he leaves LSU, goes to a BCS type school, proves he can recruit on his own, and has a highly successful run.

Gone are the days LSU hires a head coach with no record of success running a BCS program.

Thedoc, I normally am a fan of your posts, but this one shows naiveté. Being a good offensive coordinator takes an entirely different skillset than head coach. Hiring Cam would be a crap shoot, and a school like LSU should not take wild gambles with football.

When the time comes we should take a proven college head football coach. No one else should be considered. Before you say, "Jimbo" I ask you to consider all the coordinators who bombed, too.

When? Let Les' contract expire in a few years. Do not grant an extension, no matter what. When a guy's getting old he could drop off a cliff at any time; I've seen it in my line of work. LSU should not get stuck with an expensive buyout.

Based on what????

what has Cam accomplished to be giving the LSU job? I am not saying he is a bad coach or anything like that. If he stays at LSU 3 or 4 years maybe he earns a shot, but right now? No he has not earned this honor. Thinking like this is what gave us Mike Archer. Spurrier among others interviewed and the players and Arnsparger lobbied big time for Archer. The BOS caved and hired Archer, which was the beginning of the dark days of LSU football.

FWIW I think Miles at best finished his current contract. Nothing about the man strikes me as him being a lifer. It ends in 2019 which would make him 66 in 2019. Just can't see him going longer than that.
