Dubai is not that interesting of a place to me.
Dubai is a very interesting place. My Dad worked there when it started to grow until a number of years ago when Conoco left.
It's very westernized, but still tries to keep it's values. You won't be bored there. Lots of things to see and do. It's pretty much become a European vacation destination, lots of hot Euro girls. They really promote the tourism hard because of the decline in oil revenue there.

Well Dubai is interesting but if I'm traveling half way around the world I want to see a city that has a legit place in world history.
I have been to Germany and England years ago, but no where else in Europe. The Mediterranean intrigues me. Need to see it.

dubai is ok, just depends on what you are looking for. Good nightlife, some fun desert excursions and nice beaches but not a lot historical to see. The city really did not exist untill about 20 tears ago. Way to many shopping malls even though they are spectacular. Go to the blue souk in Sharja for a more regional shopping experiance, cool stuff and they haggle on prices. I go several times a year for work related meetings and it gets kinda meh real quick. If you have never been to the middle east it is a light version and kinda cool to experiance but remember you are not at home and act accordingly. If you are a single male go to the bar at the regal hotel on a friday night. Europe is a big place so be more descriptive of where and what you want to see there. My wife is British and I never get tired of London.
