The problem is that he had that great second year. People just completely refused to tamper expectations after the 10 win season. Following 10 wins with 7-6 when the team started out ranked in the top 5 hurt him. USC shouldn't have been ranked so high with the penalties kicking in.
Clearly the new AD didn't like him so 7-6 followed by a couple of terrible losses this year gave the AD the out to can his arse.
Don't like Kiffin but everyone thought the penalties were one step removed from the Death Penalty so not really sure what or why anyone expected anything better.
