2005 isn't GOAT b/c 2005 USC had that game in hand in both halves and played their most mistake prone ball all year.

People revise history and think Texas stopped USC...they did, once...on 4th down...but USC's O was on fire the entire 2nd half and was steamrolling the 1st quarter to blow the game open before Bush decides to do his stupid-arse lateral as he's breaking off another huge run.

The game was lost because USC's D was by far the weakest of the 3 from 2003-2005.

Miami had the most talent, 2004 USC way more balanced than 2011 Bama on O and as stout on D.

To quote the late great John Facenda "Great teams aren't always great, they're just great when they have to be." They got the most important stop. In the Ohio State game that year, Texas D held tOSU to FGs after turnovers gave them a short field. That left the door open for VY to do his magic.

USC was much better on O and while their D in 2004 was really good, I don't think it was at Bama's level. Now 2008 USC D was equal to Bama.
