If it's just a question of the drive head no longer working but the platters are fine, you may not have to pay more than seven or eight hundred and it sounds like that might be the case here.

Next time back up your stuff ...

If he does what I said he won't have to pay shite. This seriously will work on dead drives even if they are clicking. I've done it as have a few other people I know

I'm OC about backing files up. Every hard drive I have has an identical backup. It's a compulsion I'm glad I have.

I took apart a few of these. Fwiw, they are typically a standard hdd with a controller board ins4ide a plastic shell. Mine clearly had a burned out part on the hdd itself,so i was out of luck. If you didnt pay a lot, it'lljust be a standard hdd inside.
