Can he really recruit? He didn't do a great job of recruiting at USC, his offensive play calling at USC was very questionable. The team really started playing well after he was fired and started scoring some points. This seems like a favor to Monty.

It's a risk, of course. But I really believe that he will be successful here.
He won't be talking to the media at all.
His duties will be: OC, help with QBs, recruit.
Saban has his say in how our offense goes, if only a little (meaning focus on the run).
Offensively, I'm optimistic. After all, with all the new pieces we have to implement, how much more is an OC?
