Best NES Game?

Although Atari came first, NES is arguably the gaming system that jump started the video game craze we see today. Which NES game was your favorite when growing up?
My favorite NES game was North and South

Tough call. My favorite is probably Mega Man 2 in all honesty.
But Metroid and Super Mario Bros. 3 are the holy grails.
River City Ransom is the best non-MM third party game no doubt. Followed by Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior III.
Crystalis is underrated as heck. So is Star Tropics. They are both better than Zelda 1/2. Sorry. And I love Zelda.

For me personally it's a toss up among:
Mario Brothers
Super Mario 2
Super Mario 3
Tecmo Bowl
Overall, I'd think most people would pick Legend of Zelda
