people get mad when others post anything that jumps in their head.
You note that its a discussion board, so people get mad if it has already been discussed. It clutters the board and makes it difficult to find actual updates like the ones you seek to find.
Additionally, some people just have extremely stupid thoughts, that they should keep to themselves.
