That's a fair point, but he did beat a bunch of bowl-eligible teams, and rebuilt a Louisville team reeling from the Kragthorpe era. And it's not like he's not accomplished. He sustained last year's success with a QB that he recruited. I think this is as good a hire as any Texas could make, as they overestimated how desirable that job actually was.

The Texas name carries more weight than you are wanting to acknowledge. I'm not saying they are in a great spot, but the amount of talent in the area alone, makes it a very easy fix. I also think Charlie really wanted out of UL. I know there is a lot of hubub about Strong mad at UL fans for being terrible, but Bridgewater is leaving, their QB's next year are awful. It was going to be a rough year and moving to the ACC could make it a 3 or 4 win season. Charlie had to move now or ran the risk of dying at Louisville.
