I didn't get to watch your bowl game, sorry. I coached against him the last few years and I was wondering how he did yesterday. Thanks.

The kid looked about as good as expected in his first start..Bowl game on top of that... He didn't lose the game and to my knowledge has no open investigations on him. Room for improvement before next fall.

He had ONE really bad error. He managed the game. He didn't fumble. He got a win.

All game tapes have been burned.

He isn't ready for prime time, but seems to have a great attitude. Will work hard in the offseason to improve.

He didn't blow any timeouts within the first five minutes of the 1st and 3rd quarter (which we routinely do), didn't cause any delay of games and rushed for 1 of our three TDs to be positive.

He needs to working on passing and making quicker decisions (but it was also in sloppy conditions).

He didn't lock down the starting job like most of us hoped he would.

Left the door open for Hayden Rettig to get a shot

Given realistic expectations I thought he did OKAY. He is a true freshman after all.

I think we have a legitimate QB battle for next year. I don't think AJ earned the "leg up" he could have with this game.

Looked lost. Unprepared, and no, absolutely no accuracy. I mean even though it was his first start it's not like he's never thrown a ball before. No accuracy, has no timing. A complete bust of a start for him based on how much hype he got. Freshman or not.

The only light that could be shed on him was we won. Or better yet he didn't lose it for us.

He looked comfortable. He managed the game well outside of the near pick 6. But even on that play, at least he made the correct read. Guy was wide open. He'll learn to hit his receivers better after he plays with them some more. Considering the conditions and it being his first start, I think he did pretty good.
