Predict the 12/31/2014 bitcoin price (plus 2013 year in review)

Bitcoin began 2013 valued at approximately $13.30 on MtGox*.
Bitcoin ended 2013 valued at approximately $815.00 on MtGox.
That is an increase of 6027.82%.
What do you think a bitcoin will be worth at the end of 12/31/2014?
My prediction: $5250.00
Cutoff date for predictions: January 12th, 2014
*MtGox price is used because it was the only exchange with substantial volume throughout the entire year, and thus it's difficult to compare the beginning of the year price to the end of the year price using other exchanges.
Also, for anyone interested here's a nice read on crpytocurrencies: In Defense of Cryptocurrencies - “Why Bitcoin Shouldn’t Die in a Fire”

Thats one of the most overly simplified "year in reviews" i've ever seen outside of a tombstone.

I'm going to bet about $53.21
Bitcoin is not a currency. What do you buy with bitcoin? You trade it for money. Dollars. Bitcoin is perhaps the most well intention-ed ponzi scheme this decade.
Not to bring Austrian logic in here, but currency has a purpose, and it isn't to buy low, sell high. Once Bitcoins top out at the 21 million or so, everyone is going to sell as fast as they possibly can. If you truly think bitcoin is a currency right now, then you should start looking for other extremely volatile currencies like Argentine or Libyan and short-sell.
Once bitcoin crashes again (and it will, once the supply of buyers meets the limit) it may start to become a real currency.

Did you allow for a margin of error in your prediction of +/- 95%???

Hey, Wiki (We all know you're lurking. You, too, joshie.), your bitcoin portfolio took another hit overnight. It's now down to $260/btc which is a new one year low.
That means btc has lost 68% of its value since you started this thread one year ago. The good news is the Russian rouble lost 79% of its value versus the U.S. dollar in that same time making bitcoin look good as a comparison.
To make another comparison, if the DowJones 30 Industrial Average had lost 68% of its value since 12/31/13 it would be down to 5,305 today. Instead it's at 17,833.
You're a financial genius and a modern day Nostradamus!
I can understand why so many people on the O-T Lounge Board admire your financial acumen and ability to predict the future.
