re: 44-9 the most wins in a 4 year period and the first time

My first take on this was "this is somewhat unfair because they play more games today than they used to. What if you reverse this and look at losses?" I looked at our record going back to Huey Long and looked at the non-wins (losses or ties). If you look at streaks of 3 or more years where we have had 3 such blemishes or less on our records, there have been only a few such streaks.

1935-1937 (3 years)
1968-1973 (6 years)
1985-1987 (3 years)
2003-2007 (5 years)
2010-2013 (4 years)

So even by this method, LSU football is still doing quite well historically though perhaps not as much better than other periods if you look at win totals alone as the original poster does. Basically, this method gives the old school Tigers a bit of love too.
