MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry offered an apology to the Romney family on Tuesday after a panel on her show mocked the fact that one of Mitt Romney's grandchildren is black. On Sunday's "Melissa Harris-Perry" show, Harris-Perry led a panel in discussing the "Photos of the Year," which included a Romney family Christmas photo.
quote:
In the photo, Romney is seen holding his adopted grandchild, Kieran, who is black. During the segment, guest panelist Pia Glenn sang, "One of these things is not like the others! One of these things just isn't the same," a reference to Kieran. "And that little baby, front and center, would be the one." For her part, Harris-Perry imagined Kieran Romney and North West, the daughter of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, marrying in the future. When The Right Scoop first took note of the panel's comments Monday, it caused an uproar. Early Tuesday morning, Harris-Perry tweeted an apology. She noted that she comes from a mixed-race family, and that she felt "familiarity" with the photograph.

How can somebody who wore tampons on their ears possibly mock anyone?

I wonder when Jesse Jackson will come out and say this was worse than Rosa Parks?

I am sure it was so heart felt an apology. She was told to do it or follow Bashir into the night. One would think that the big guys at NBC would take a look at the stars of the MS side o the company and the dismal as frick viewership numbers and finances and kill the network.

Too late. Most will only remember the mocking but the good news for MSNBC is very few were watching in the first place.

I watched the original clip from her show and this is too ridiculous to even be called much ado about nothing.
There is no reason for any offense there and I give her credit for apologizing. I would not have.

They don't seem very tolerant of mixed race families. Why even bring this up? Why are people "emotional" about this photo, as Perry stated? Does a mixed race family bother MSNBC viewers or MSNBC hosts?
One of the members of the panel on the show chats "one of these things is not like the other" like some kind of 7 year old, and Perry bursts out in laughter. LINK
At least she didn't talk about defacating on people like MSNBC's Bashir did.

Just because she hates the white part of her family gives her no familiarity with the Romney baby.

Seems like that network has to apologize for something every week or so.

Are MSNBC employees so insulated from reality that they do not see the problem with laughing at a photo in that context?
That would never happen on any other news network.
This is another example of liberal tolerance.
