There is a minimum fitness test, but I think anyone can do the workout unless you have some sort of medical condition that would make it unwise.

It really depends on where you are mentally. Me, I was absolutely disgusted with myself when I saw how I looked (I posted about this earlier in this thread). I knew I wanted to change. It was a turning point. I wanted to give up during Phase I, but I kept going. Now, I want to work out more because I'm already seeing results. Seeing results is what gives me my motivation now.
