We had a Rottweiler get hit by a truck when I was about 15, my dad always worked out of town and my mom happened to be with him that weekend. I put her down with a .22lr.
I hadn't thought about it until this thread, but it wasn't that bad and seeing her suffering after getting hit by that truck it was fairly easy.
