Very rare. I think the last time was the 2004 season with Bowe and Davis. Don't believe Bowe was a starter in 03 but I may be incorrect.

We had Skyler Green

hasn't happen since Bowe & Buster went in the 1st Rd.

Doucet wasn't technically a starter but he actually had his most productive year at LSU in 2006 (59 catches for 772 yards and 8 TDs). Put this way, by himself he had 26 more catches, 266 more yards and 6 more TDs than everyone coming back next year combined.

This isn't really that bad though. Like I said, coming into this year we didn't have any really proven wide receivers. Landry and Beckham had shown flashes of what they were going to be this year, but they were nowhere near this good last year. The WR question this offseason is more clouded than last offseason for sure, but I really don't think we have to worry too much. It's just interesting how little experience is coming back.

What I posted on this subject in another thread and touched it up a bit here:

quote:

Travin Dural 6'2 182 (I've now seen anywhere from 4.40-4.50)

Our most complete WR, good-great, in routes, size, speed, and agility. After being in his second year of Cam's system, he should be a 1000 yard receiver next year.

Kevin Spears 6'3 189 (I've seen 4.50)

very athletic big framed WR who only played football his junior and senior years (was basketball player prior). Very good hands and has nice hops. This is the one i'm truly excited for opposite Dural. He has a lot of potential.

Quantavius Leslie 6'4 175 (I've seen 4.42-4.45)

Your big play guy. Don't know how good his hands are, but the guy is a burner. Can take the top off the defense and his YPC will be 19 or higher. Will be great in the endzone on jump passing. Still raw unless Cam has tweaked him, and a stick figure.

John Diarse 6'0 207, (I've seen 4.4.48-4.81 and 4.48 was at LSU camp)

He is likened to Anquan Boldin. Physical possession receiver, I can't truly project when he'll play, but a perfect #2 option and possibly your go to bail out guy.

Avery Peterson 6'2 189 (I've seen 4.42-4.44)

Don't know what to say about him other than he is a good WR. I think he could be the #1 on many teams and is the third fastest WR "on the roster". Honestly though, if we get Noil and Dupre, he needs to hurry back to the field immediately.

Trey Quinn 6'1 200 4.39 40,

hands of glue, national high school record holder in yards (dude should be a 5 star). Think of a white Jarvis Landry, way faster, but not as shifty.

DJ. Chark 6'0 175,

Reminds me of Beckham. Not as fast, but a playmaker at WR and returner. Don't know if he sees the field early with all the other talent though.

Tony Upchurch 6'2 230 WR/RB/TE

Could play a hybrid position and I'd much rather him be the next FB and move Jones back to LB. He is a load at RB too. On second thought, just rewatched his vid, if he hasn't lost his speed, would be a great WR/TE.

Desean Smith 6'4 241 TE,

very good hands and is more of a receiving TE than a blocker, which is why he probably hasn't seen then field much.

Jacory Washington 6'5 225 TE,

very athletic and should be as good a receiver as Smith considering he plays WR. Will need about 15lbs before he hits the field for a good amount of plays.

I'm very optimistic that we don't miss a beat after the first half of the season easy stretch.
