The last 16 AP coach of the year award winners were in the Advocate this morning. While at LSU, Miles is 10-7 against these coaches:

W L Coach/Year Won
1 0 Frank Beamer (1999)
3 5 Nick Saban (2003, 2011)
3 1 Tommy Tuberville (2004)
0 1 Joe Paterno (2005)
1 0 Gary Patterson (2009)
1 0 Chip Kelly (2010)
1 0 Gus Malzahn (2013)
10 7

Not too many coaches claim they have a winning record vs. Saban, so if you remove him, Miles is 7-2.

Not bad.

Good post up until this piece. Removing Saban from someone's stats is pretty pointless.

Nick Saban won it the year we beat them and were undefeated?

ETA: Looked up, Les won in 2011. Change Saban to 2008

Yet we're in a mediocre bowl vs a mediocre big 10 team this year following a mediocre bowl last year.

What fun are stats if you can't manipulate them.

Without having looked it up, to me the interesting thing is that probably no other coach (including Saban) has played 17 games against teams coached by one of the last 16 AP COTY.

I could be wrong, I just haven't bothered to look it up.
