I agree. The thing is that we won't attract a top notch coach. We are a powerhouse at football but we're bottom feeders on the court.

This is not a perpetual condition. It's not as if it is impossible for Bama to have a solid basketball program - just look at the historical statistics of the SEC, where Bama is in the Top 3 for winning percentage and regular season titles. We already pay Grant as if he was a blockbuster coach (and by all means, that's what we though we were getting when we hired him from VCU). Clearly, though, we were mistaken.
