September 2007: Former player Peter Gardere gets arrested for DWI. Apparently even the old-school guys can't stay out of trouble. I'm not sure what happened with this.

September 2007: Tyrell Gatewood (INCIDENT #2) and Ben Wells are arrested with an array of narcotics, including marijuana, Xanax, promethazine, and codeine. Gatewood missed his Senior year and Wells stayed on the team.

May 2008: Former player Cedric Benson (INCIDENT #3) is arrested for BWI, which is boating while intoxicated. BWI is typically a charge that you have to be belligerently drunk to get, and it sure didn't help that Cedric resisted arrest. He failed the field sobriety test and spent the night in jail.

June 2008: Former player Cedric Benson (INCIDENT #4) is arrested for DWI. Benson had driven through a red light, and had then failed the sobriety test. Despite refusing to take a blood or breath test, Cedric claims that he aced all the tests and that he's being profiled. The Bears release him due to his "pattern of behavior" and he is ordered to put a ignition lock breathalyzer in his car.

September 2008: Lamarr Houston gets a DWI following a wreck with another car. He is suspended for the UTEP game with Mack's "No Tolerance" policy.

June 2009: Sergio Kindle (INCIDENT #2) plows into an apartment right after the bars close. He flees the scene and avoids the hospital blood tests despite suffering a concussion. The team doctor treats him in the morning, and his lawyer, which he can magically afford after 1 costly DWI, floats a story that Kindle was "probably texting" at the time. Mack of course runs with this. Kindle promises to pay for the $8700 in damage with more of that money he magically has, and no charges are ever filed. Kindle misses no snaps.

October 2009: Kenny Vaccaro is arrested after assaulting a UT student in the gym. Kenny and his boys were throwing basketballs at this law student, who apparently threw one back. Vacarro can't take what he's dishing out, so he goes and clocks the guy. Kenny says the guy was trying to start a fight, because apparently law students want to singlehandedly take on a football player and his crew. Vacarro has missed no time.

November 2009: DJ Monroe is arrested for DWI. If you haven't seen the video, watch it here. LINK It's about as damning as it could possibly be. He swerves around on the road, fails every test, changes his story, is barely coherent, and pukes in the cop car multiple times. And he points out his status as a UT football player twice. And yet, by mid-December, it has been reduced down to the slap on the wrist of "obstructing a passageway." Perhaps more appalling than the charge reduction is the turnaround time, given that DWIs often take years to be settled. Then again, it may be that whole "upcoming NC game deadline" at work again.

November 2009: Marcus Davis is seen driving around on a blown tire that's down to the rim, and apparently doesn't notice. He is pulled over and arrested for DWI and possession of a controlled substance. He is suspended for the Big XII CCG and NC, and is released from the team in the offseason. Davis has since transferred to Oregon.

January 2010: Brandon Collins (INCIDENT #2) is arrested for his involvement in an armed robbery in which he was the getaway driver. Collins asked a friend to buy drugs for him, and the friend ends up robbing the drug dealer. They abscond with the dealer's money and drugs, and are pulled over by an officer who finds the contraband. Collins posts $35,000 bond (yes, $35k) and is actually kicked off the team. Incredibly, these charges are dropped.

January 2010: Dan Buckner gets in an argument with his girlfriend in College Station. The police are called in, and Buckner is charged with criminal trespassing. He likely would have been okay with just this, but he decides to make the brilliant choice to resist arrest. Buckner has since transferred.

April 2010: Vondrell McGee is driving without his lights on and gets arrested for DWI. He blows a .125 and .126, well over the legal limit of .08. Mack suspended him for the Wyoming game, and the NCAA ruled him academically ineligible for the remainder of the season to effectively end his football career.

June 2010: Vince Young gets a citation following a fight in a Dallas strip club. Apparently he didn't take too kindly to someone giving the horns down, so there was an altercation, and Young decided to bail before the authorities arrive.

June 2010: Cedric Benson (INCIDENT #5) is arrested for a bar fight on 6th St with another patron. The bar staff separate them, and Benson shoves the manager of the bar and spits blood from a cut lip at a different bar employee. They escort Cedric out of the bar, but he tries to re-enter, and when prevented, he punches another bar employee.

July 2010: Chris Simms is pulled over. The cop smells marijuana on him, and Simms is apparently high enough to admit he smoked pot earlier in the day. He is arrested for driving under the influence of drugs (with his pregnant wife with him in the car, no less) and refuses a urine test. He then misses his court hearing. Simms' lawyers make his friend the fall guy, and Simms is inexplicably acquitted.

August 2010: Rashad Bobino beats on a girl in public on 6th St. In a bit of instant karma, UFC fighter Roger Huerta happens to witness this, and doesn't take kindly to it. After a brief conversation about chivalry in which Bobino profoundly retorts by saying "**** you, **** these b*tches; I'll knock out any ****ing b*tch I wanna ****ing knock out....I'll knock your ****ing b*tch arse out", he takes a swing at Huerta. Huerta KOs Bobino in a matter of seconds. Glorious. Watch the video here. LINK y-street-fight-roger-huerta-austin-texas-video/

July 2011: Career criminal Cedric Benson (INCIDENT #6) is arrested yet again, this time for assault with bodily injury with family violence. Benson had two criminal cases against him at the same time, and pled no contest to both in exchange for a sentence of 20 days in jail (of which he served five), a $4,000 fine, an undisclosed amount of restitution to the victims, and 30 hours of community service.

August 2011: Christian Scott is arrested for assault with bodily injury, as he apparently attacked a woman who was trying to repossess his car . He pleads no contest and receives deferred adjudication and community service. Mack reinstated him to the team and sat him for the first three games of 2011.

January 2012: Eryon Barnett is arrested for public intoxication. Barnett later announces his intention to transfer.

February 2012: Calvin Howell is arrested for possession of marijuana. Howell announces his transfer shortly afterwards, which begs the question of if there was more at play here, given that Mack ha s allowed players to remain on the team with multiple weed arrests in the past.

May 2012: Kenny Vaccaro (INCIDENT #2), Eryon Barnett (INCIDENT #2), Alex Okafor, and Barrett Matthews get themselves in some trouble on 6th St and are asked to leave. They refuse, and get arrested. Barnett additionally gets charged with failing to identify himself. This is handled by mid-June, and Vaccaro, Okafor, and Matthews miss no snaps.

January 2013: Former player Russell Erxlaben is arrested again for defrauding investors via a ponzi scheme, as he had previously served time in a federal prison for fraud. This time, he is charged with wire fraud, money laundering, and securities fraud.

February 2013: Connor Brewer is arrested on charges of public intoxication and minor in possession of alcohol. He also is in possession of fake identification. He has missed no time.

March 2013: Cayleb Jones decides he isn't over his ex, and breaks the jaw of a UT tennis player that is dating her. He is suspended for the spring.

April 2013: Kendall Sanders gets a DWI in aggieland. It's a bad enough idea to even be in aggieland, and it's even worse if you decide to drink and drive as a UT player in aggieland. Mack says UT takes "a strong stance against drinking and driving" and then does nothing to Sanders.
