Will be purchasing this rifle with a scope for Christmas (I'm Left-Handed). Was wondering if anyone know of any cool ways to customize this rifle i.e. attachments, personal inscriptions, etc.. Pics of yours would be really cool as well.

I have the see through sights. Downshift has been marking off his deer kills on his. Do something like that. It isn't a black gun

Get a scout rail and a red dot, a little modern touch to the old school.
Personally, Id leave it with open sight and a leather sling.

Keep it simple. The Marlin 30-30 lever action is well balanced and easy to shoulder. It carries very easy and can unload all of its 30cal rounds very fast.
I wish I had some real nice iron sights but the old red dot that is on it is still working fine. Old Simmons red dot that is about 15+ years old. When it craps out iron sights it will be.

They had a 336 at Cabela's on the used rack last Saturday with a JM stamp for, I think it was, $450. All the other Marlins had the REM stamp.
Remington bought Marlin in about 2008 and quality has taken a nose dive. If you're buying a Marlin, definitely look for the JM stamp, it'll be on the left side of the bbl near the receiver (the REM stamp is on the right side).
Also, go with peep sights, I understand Williams are good, but I'll be putting Skinners on my 1894c.

It's a very active site, with very knowledgeable folks from customizing to re-loading.
