Every year, the ACC Championship attendance is embarrassingly bad. So bad, it makes headlines every single year.

Why don't they move the game to campus? Give the best team home-field advantage (based on whatever criteria you can think up). Home team must provide visiting team with option for up to 30% of tickets.

Sure, the underdog would be at a disadvantage, but it would probably also be a smart move for the conference so that there is less of a chance the ACC's best team isn't upset and knocked out of the 4 team playoff. No different than NFL home-field advantage.

They've continued to move locations, but attendance is still a problem.

2005-2007: Jacksonville
2008-2009: Tampa
2010-current: Charlotte

Attendance has improved since moving it to Charlotte, but its still not good.

From last year:
quote:

Through a public records request Warchant.com has obtained Georgia Tech's estimated balance sheet from its participation in the ACC Championship on Dec. 1. The school is projected to take a loss of $375,370. The two schools combined to lose more than $850,000 from playing in Charlotte, N.C.

Already in offseason mode.

The PAC 12 model would work well for them.

Tickets are going for $26 on stubhub.

Cheap SEC championship tickets are an order of magnitude more expensive.

So glad that my uni joined the greatest sports conference in the country.

I fail to see how this relates to the SEC.

Can't imagine what would happen if they had something like Boston College/Miami played in Charlotte. There might be more people on the sidelines then in the stands.

58277 when the Gamecocks played East Carolina at BofA on Labor Day Weekend.

Florida State took the trophy home from the 2012 ACC championship game in December.

It also brought back debt.

According to the school's income statement from the game, obtained by Warchant.com via public records request, Florida State lost more than $478,000 from its participation in the ACC championship in Charlotte, N.C., on Dec. 1.

About $440,000 of FSU's loss stems from dismal ticket sales for its matchup against 6-6 Georgia Tech. The league announced that 64,778 tickets were distributed, but Bank of America Stadium never reached half-capacity during FSU's 21-15 win.

The ACC probably laughs at the SEC and their basketball tourney attendance.

How many times on that late Thursday game, the only people in the crowd are a handful of old farts wearing Kentucky Blue?

I actually expect a decent turnout this year. Duke will bring a lot of people.
