Malzahn would be perfect... he realizes auburn isn't a final stop job

Maybe true....Malzahn has set the bar very high this season...if he can live up to it after this yr remains to be seen. I think he likes Auburn alot but I also think he saw how the fans and administration turned on Chizik within 2 yrs of winning a title. He has put together a remarkable season but now the pressure will be on to duplicate it yr in and yr out. They will be favored to win the SEC for sure next yr, so anything less than that could be looked on as a negative.

Solid post.

I don't think anyone who follows the sport seriously considers Gustav to be a proven commodity as an HC - most of all Gustav himself. That's one of the things I like most about him - he doesn't seem to be the kind of guy who is convinced of his own brilliance. Sharp contrast to Terry Bowden, who after stumbling into 20 wins to start his major college career was convinced he would be challenging Bryant's all-time win total in another 25 years or so.

And you're particularly right about Malzahn seing the how the fanbase/admins turned on Chiz - he had a front row seat as to why they did as well. That was the second time he saw how an SEC HC could lose control of a program and leave it in disarray, primarily because of their overinflated egos. I'm of the opinion that he won't do the same.

I simply don't see UTx, with all the resources at their disposal, would take a chance on someone like Gus at this time. Which is good for AU, at least in the short run.

I think he saw firsthand what a dumpster fire of a head coach Chizik was and pretty we'll knows that "title" was due to himself and a Mr. Cameron Newton, Quarterback
