Bet it'll look like arse soup which would be a total LSU move.

Very true. The rubber part that'll be replaced isn't in many major league stadiums, at least not the ones I've been to. Literally the only downside I can think this will bring is trying to clean up the sunflower seeds SLU will leave :/

It won't look any worse than ULL's.

The entire field as turf looks really bad, IMO.

That's not good because ULL's field is terrible.

If OP is correct in saying the "rubber warning track" will be replaced, I'm assuming he's talking about the surface between the field and dugouts. Find a picture to see what I'm talking about. It's not dirt, grass, or turf, just a rubber surface.

ETA:

And the only reason I can think of for it being replaced with artificial turf instead of grass is the sunlight issue, since that area is so close to walls and likely to be shadowed.

The area behind home plate is already artificial turf. Not entirely that noticeable.

Sunlight is not an issue in Alex Box. There are no walls high enough to block sunlight for any length of time. "Celebration" Bermuda (The turf that's in Tiger Stadium) is also a very "shade tolerant" strain of Bermuda. I'm assuming "Celebration" is also in Alex Box.

It's not noticeable in that picture, but it certainly if you are at the game.

I will not be renewing my season tickets anyway. We are about to go through a smoke laval type stretch.

The reality of it is that LSU has 1 cws appearance in the past 4 years and was completely shut down in their only 2 cws games.

The canopy over the grandstand creates shade especially in the early months of the season which makes it difficult for the groundskeepers to maintain a consistent grass cover in the shaded areas.

well its hard to argue with this but if I'm sitting in the grandstand i can tell one area is artificial and one isnt without any trouble at all. maybe you sit in the outfield or something.
