Process vs results.

He was rather clearly attempting to affect the play, that is all that should matter.

Though I'd much prefer he get some sort of suspension as opposed to lost draft picks, I hate that idea.

As a huge Saints fan, no. Not extreme in any way. A Head coach shouldn't act like a moron from the stands.
