I've been saying since we got Dwight that if we trade Asik it should be for a perimeter defender. Wes Matthews or Batum would be ideal. I doubt Portland wants to mess with their team right now though. If only we would have drafted Leonard over Marcus Morris

The Dumpster Fire 2.0 aka "The New York Short-Shorts" may want to start ridding themselves of all these random pieces they have like Iman Shumpert who is supposedly a good perimeter defender. We need some more effort for the current guards though. Harden is pretty much the only one that legitimately needs to step up his defensive game, especially because its obvious we aren't dependent on his offensive abilities like we were with T-Mac/Yao. Parsons, Howard, Casspi, Lin, Brooks, and even T Jones can all get solid enough offense where Harden doesn't need to slack off on the defensive end.

I think a lot of Harden's bad defense had to do with his foot injury.

The first couple of games he certainly was giving more effort on defense than last year.

Then he got hurt and I guess he decided he would be lazy on defense.

Hopefully when he comes back he's good and healed and will give effort on defense again.
