Wonderful book. Top 10 for me.

You seem to have read all the big ones, but Miller's "a canticle for lebowitz" seems to be somewhat undervalued the past 20 years.

Because of its overt Catholicism, which was the best thing about it for me.

I recently read the entire "Odd Thomas" series by Dean Koontz. I highly recommend if you are looking for something unique.

As said by others, all of Sanderson's work is excellent. His latest, Steel Heart, is a simple read and a unique look at what would happen if people suddenly developed super powers.

Also, The Wheel of Time: The Eye of the World is a great fantasy novel. I loved the entire series even though it gets muddled a bit around book 8. Sanderson did an excellent job closing the series out.

I took a sci-fi literature class back in the day, that was one of the books we read. Loved it.

Others we read for that class (incomplete list, going off memory):

Ender's Game
Svaha
Dreamsnake
The Left Hand of Darkness
Memoirs Found in a Bathtub

all different, very unique. All are nice reads.

edit to add- took this class way back in the early 90's. Different world then. I remember the professor went off on a tirade about Alfalfa Video store (it was basically a brick and mortar Netflix), and how it was terrible that they wanted your social security # when you signed up for a membership (which, at the time, was a pretty standard thing to require). We all thought she was just a paranoid nutjob

looking back, a lot of her "paranoia" was pretty spot-on
