Deus ex machina

This is the absolute worst. They write themselves into a corner with over-the-top scenarios with no hope of resolution and then spend about a minute on a half-assed solution: Rose atomizes an entire dalek fleet, oh they're covered in void pellets so they get sucked back in, everyone claps their hands and the Doctor transforms from dwarf to angel and smites the Master with godlike powers, and the ever popular 'oh I can just remind myself to go back in time and start some solution a few hundred years ago so it'll be ready when I need it right now!'

The best episodes are always the ones that have simple/contained stories. The other stuff is over-the-top fanwank.

This is why i prefer the Early years. The effects stunk but most of the time the story was written much better and it wasn't about galactic destruction every GD episode.

Giving the master super powers and the ability to FLY was just about the dumbest thing in the entire history of the show yet they topped themselves by having the doctor jump out of a moving spaceship and crash through a glass ceiling without injury.
