People pick on Eccleston but I think his best episodes are easily as good as the best Tennant episodes. At least he didn't spend every episode waving the lazy stick for half the episode.

Heck, the best Tennant era episode is Blink which wasn't really a Dr episode.

As bad as the Tennant era was with the lazy stick, the Smith era took it to a whole new level.

I've loved Who since the early 80s and I almost can't stand it anymore because the writers are pure shite and Moffat has not remotely lived up to the promise of Blink & The Girl in the Fireplace.

Heck, I was thrilled to see Davies leave but now I long for him helming the show. Moffat is a better writer when that is all he is doing.

End rant...

Answer to the OP is watch one season. If you don't like it, it will only get worse and it will only cost you 12 hours of your life.

Agreed. The Deus ex machina on the show has gotten out of control, and the lazy stick of bad writing was beyond silly a few seasons ago. There have been some nice strings of good episodes during the Smith run, but overall it's much worse than when Davies was helming it.
