There was something very similar that happened at UW with a basketball player a couple of year ago. A girl cried rape, everyone accused this guy of being a rapist, then when they actually dug into it the girl confessed that it was consensual and just made up the rape story. Because of seeing that, I'm waiting until this whole thing is final before drawing any sort of conclusions whatsoever.

This should equal jail time.

yeah the punishment should be the same imo. I honestly have zero tolerance for instances like that.

that said, I don't think that's what this is. Perhaps if she just started claiming rape now, but she didn't. This was all the way back in december, which makes me think there may actually have been foul play.

and don't even get me started on the whole TPD situation, it just reeks of a cover up

I have that knee jerk feeling as well but when it might decrease the likelihood of a person admitting they lied I'm not sure it would be a good idea in practice. Supposedly the most common reason people lie about being raped is embarrassment over sleeping with a person they shouldn't have slept with (then a lie emerges to a boyfriend or husband or male relative)

But all of this seems speculative. If there is physical evidence that she was traumatized combined with evidence (DNA) that sex took place her story becomes pretty credible.

I'd be slightly suspicious of the allegation if she had just accused him recently of an incident that took place so long ago, but it sounds like she reported this accordingly and the cops either botched it or deliberately covered it up.

I'm also wary of accusing any woman of crying rape for "attention" or whatever other reason; it's a delicate situation. Like others have said, I will reserve full judgement until this all plays out.

False rape accusations are a serious problem. Life imprisonment might be a bit much, but it needs to be dealt with more harshly than it is at present.

Does he beat this case?

Is it fair to say his FSU career is over?

She wins by getting raped?

What he said is that it's difficult for the accuser not to win if it goes to court.

And although he probably overstates his point, but his underlying point is correct. It's tough for a guy accused of rape to prove his innocence in court.

Go read rule 412 of the federal rules of evidence. And then read rule 413. And then report back. We'll wait.

The State of Florida vs Jameis Winston

I don't see where she "wins" anything.

Even if convicted her life is changed forever, and it's been turned over twice now.

attention seeking
buyer's remorse (the next day they regret what they've done)
financial motivation
alibi (rape as the story invented to "excuse" a liaison)

How do you avoid false rape claims?
1. make her put the rubber on you.
2. film it.
3. buy the girl breakfast the next morning.
4. get a confirmation text (text a girl after you've banged her saying you had fun hanging out with her. She'll text back. You're gold.)

It sounds extreme but if lying, the accuser should get the same sentence the person they accused would have gotten.

Watch how fast shite changes. When someone says they were raped it would hold a lot more weight. Sucks to think like that because rape is by far the worst crime someone could commit outside of murder but its cried somuch nowadays by attention whores its the way it is.

Do some research on false rape claims. The numbers are staggering. There is a website about false rape claims. Start there. LINK /

I understand, man. You're preaching to the choir. It's a serious serious problem. I just think life imprisonment is excessive, and, practically speaking, is just never gonna happen. But I agree that the problem should be addressed with much more severe punishments than at present.
