bought my 8 year old a savage axis youth (with scope) for about 300-350 last year
7mm-08 and i bought some reduced recoil rounds for it
it seemed like the best value for a youth gun and i looked for quite a while
its a gun that will likely only be used for a few years by him, but good enough to pass down to younger cousins, etc., or let them borrow it if needed

Browning micro xbolt here in 7mm08. Reduced recoil
No probs. 10 and hasn't outgrown yet but can upgrade the stock
