In a strategic confrontation, such as chess, war, or football , the single largest advantage one side can have over another is foreknowledge of their opponents plan of action. No matter what other advantages or disadvantages might exist...if you know what your opponent is about to do, then you have the upper hand.

Wrong. Knowing somebody will seize a better option that you afford to them does not render an advantage over not giving them that option at all
If you are playing chess and you put your king in a shitty position, you know your opponent will come after it. Just because you know your opponent is coming after it doesn't make it an advantage. It just means your king is in a shitty position and both you and your opponent know it.
