Yep, he obviously knew what he was doing when he wasted a timeout on an automatically reviewable play.
That's the last I'm going to address of any "Sean Payton obviously knows what he's doing" posts. He obviously doesn't in all cases. He showed he didn't even know the rules of the game, so I'm not going to just assume he has a good understanding of game theory.

You can clearly hear him tell the ref, "Yep, I want it anyway" in reference to the timeout on the review. He wanted extended time for whatever reason. I'll trust him over your conjecture every time.
To quote another Saints coach, "You THINK you know, but you DON'T know".
Your hubris is laughable.
